Flower Cat Scratching Post Review: 45 Inches and Easy Assembly

A 45-inch cat scratching post with a suction base, sisal wrap and built-in toys. Here's what assembly, stability and height really look like.

The Flower Cat Scratching Post is worth buying if you have a medium or large indoor cat that stretches tall and shreds furniture. It stands 45 inches, wraps in natural sisal, and went together in under 15 minutes with one Allen wrench screw. Buy it if vertical scratching is your problem.

Base First, Flowers Second

The base matters more than the flowers, and that’s the order most buyers get backwards. How well it grips your specific floor type, tile, hardwood, or thick rug, decides whether your cat ever goes back to it after the first wobble. The flower design is the hook; the base is the reason it works or gets returned.

This one is listed at about 45 inches in height, so I stood next to it on camera to give you a real comparison instead of a number on a box. It’s tall. Tall enough that a medium or large cat can stretch out from paw to spine rather than hunching over a flat scratching mat.

Under 15 Minutes, One Allen Wrench

Assembly took less than about 15 minutes and only one piece needed an Allen wrench to screw in. Everything else was just hand turned.

Here’s what came in the box: the base, the post pieces, and all the included accessories. That’s it. No surprise hardware bag, no twenty-step diagram. I laid the pieces out, stacked the post sections, tightened the one screw, and set it down. For a 45-inch tower at 7 lbs with a 3.15 inch post diameter, that’s a fast build.

Look underneath and there are suction cups right on the base, in addition to some non-slip pads. So you can put this on either tile or carpet and not have any issues. The suction cups do the work on hard floors, the pads do it on rugs. That dual setup is the part I’d actually pay for, because a tipping post is a post your cat never goes back to.

The 7 lb Question

Seven pounds holding up 45 inches means stability depends entirely on your floor type: suction cups work on tile, non-slip pads alone on thick rugs. The base only works as well as the floor you put it on. On tile the suction cups grab and it stays put. On a thick shag or a lumpy rug, those cups have nothing to bite into and you’re relying on the non-slip pads alone.

The other thing worth knowing before you order: a chunk of that 45 inches is leaves and flower decoration, not sisal. It’s not the full 45 inches of scratching surface. Still plenty of usable pole for a full stretch, but don’t picture a 45-inch sisal column.

It’s Not a Cat Toy, It’s Decor

Unlike most carpet-wrapped posts hidden in corners, this one looks like floral decor, vibrant colors and real leaves mean you can place it where your cat actually scratches instead of banishing it to a back room. That’s the part people get wrong before it’s in the room. Most tall posts are carpet-colored carpeted boxes you hide in a corner, and most buyers assume this one is the same thing with a flower glued on.

The colors are really vibrant on it. It looks really nice and it stands out in a good way, which means you can put it where your cat actually wants it, next to the window or beside the couch it’s been shredding, instead of banishing it to a back room where nobody uses it. Placement is half of whether a cat scratching post for couch protection works at all.

The accessories are better distributed than most posts: a spring and track balls at the base keep a second cat occupied while the first one scratches, and the feather bells at the top reward the cat that actually climbs. It’s not a gimmick shelf, the layout maps to how cats actually move around a vertical object.

Before You Order

Measure your floor space and your cat before anything else. 45 inches tall with a round base needs clearance on all sides so the toys can swing, and the sisal pole is sized for kittens through large adult cats, so a small cat will use the lower third and ignore the rest.

One more useful signal: this has been selling noticeably better lately. Pricing moves, so check it live at the link.

Pros

  • 45 inches of real vertical height for a full paw-to-spine stretch
  • Assembled in under 15 minutes with only one Allen wrench screw
  • Suction cups plus non-slip pads, so tile or carpet both work
  • Vibrant colors that read as floral decor instead of a cat toy
  • Multiple play points: bottom spring, track balls, hanging feather bells

Cons

  • At 7 lbs the stability depends entirely on the base gripping your floor type
  • Not all 45 inches is sisal, the flower decoration takes up part of that height
  • One piece needs an Allen wrench, so it’s not fully tool-free

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the sisal rope be replaced when it wears out?

There’s no cat scratching post replacement sleeve sold with it. The pole comes fully wrapped in natural sisal from the factory, so when it frays you’re either re-wrapping it yourself with rope or replacing the post. Worth budgeting for if you have a heavy scratcher.

How do I clean the flower leaves and sisal?

Vacuum the sisal with a brush attachment and wipe the artificial leaves with a damp cloth. Nothing on it is machine washable. The sisal catches loose fur the same way a cat scratching board does, so a quick pass every couple of weeks keeps it looking new.

Will more than one cat use it at the same time?

It’s a single pole, so realistically one cat scratches at a time while another bats the bottom spring or track balls. It’s not a multi-level cat tree with platforms. In a multi-cat house it works as an enrichment station, not a shared perch.

Does it come with a bed or perch on top?

No. If you want a cat scratching post with bed attached, this isn’t it. The top is the flower and feather bell toys, so there’s nowhere for your cat to nap. This is built for vertical scratching and play, nothing else.

If your cat is tall, scratches vertically, and you’re tired of hiding ugly posts in back rooms, this earns its floor space. The one real caveat: thick rugs will test its stability. Every other box, height, assembly, looks, it checks.
